Eric has been designing and crafting furniture for 20 years. His first design experience was in the theatre. He holds an MFA from the Tisch School of the Arts at New York University, where he specialized in lighting and scenery design. Following years of work in the theatre, he devoted himself to making fine handcrafted furniture. At Boston’s venerable North Bennet Street School he mastered the age-old skills of traditional joinery, carving, inlay, marquetry and veneer work. Out of his New York studio he produces exceptional furniture in a variety of styles —from Beidermeier and Nouveau to mid-century modern and contemporary —all painstakingly researched and exquisitely constructed.
“Furniture design doesn’t happen in a vacuum. Stunning interiors are the result of individual pieces working in concert, of creating a coherent environment. I enjoy the design process, which can include meticulous historical reproductions, adaptations of classic furniture styles or completely new conceptualizations. I collaborate with architects, interior designers and private clients, many of whom return to me for repeat commissions, year after year.”
